Alstom: Building Plants in Egypt for Rolling Stock Production

French company Alstom is expanding its presence in Egypt, signing a memorandum for the construction of two plants for rolling stock production, this is reported by the railway transport news portal Railway Supply.


One plant will specialize in manufacturing electrical systems and components, while the other will focus on producing electric trains, metro cars, trams, and monorail vehicles.

This is a strategically important move for the transportation sector in Egypt, creating over 1200 jobs for local specialists.


Alstom is already actively involved in Egypt, fulfilling an order for 55 Metropolis trains for the Cairo metro.


This contract not only ensures the production of the trains but also their maintenance for eight years.
