Egyptian-Greek trade exchange increase by 112.8% in H1 2021

Bilateral trade between Egypt and Greece increased by 112.8% in the first half of 2021 (H1 2021), to record $1bn, up from $477.6m in the same period a year earlier. According to the Central Agency for Public Mobilization and Statistics (CAPMAS), Egyptian exports to Greece amounted to $807.4m in H1 2021, compared to $273.8m during the same period in 2020, an increase of 194.9%.


On the other hand, Egyptian imports from Greece increased by 2.6% to $209.1m during the first half of 2021 compared to $203.8m in H1 2020


Meanwhile, remittances from Egyptians working in Greece reached $8.4m in the fiscal year 2018/19, compared to $7.1m during the fiscal year 2017/2018, an increase of 18.7%. Remittances of Greeks working in Egypt amounted to $2.2m during FY 2018/19, compared to $1.8m in FY 2017/18, an increase of 23.4%.


CAPMAS data revealed that the population of Egypt recorded 102.5 million people in 2021, while the population of Greece recorded 10.4 million people in 2021.
