Amazon announced that its .eg website will launch end of 2021. Amazon has already been selling in the Arab World’s most populated nation, Egypt, through its site souq.com since 2017.

Amazon purchased Emirati website souq.com in 2017 for $580 million and launched amazon.ae in the UAE in May 2019 and one year later it launched amazon.sa in Saudi Arabia.

Sellers who are on Souq.com in Egypt can access amazon’s main platform now and registration is open for them so they can set up the stores.

Amazon stated that its goal is to support local business no matter their size by offering its platform, tools, programs and campaigns to help sellers expand and promote their business.

In Egypt, amazon currently has 15 local distribution centers that have more than 3,000 employees.
