Egypt and Denmark inked their Energy Partnership program for the years 2019-2022 as Egypt aims to increase its investment in renewable energy.

The agreement was signed between The Ministry of International Cooperation and the Ministry of Electricity on the Egyptian side and the Ministry of Climate, Energy and Utilities on the Danish side.

The agreement is part of Egypt’s green transformation plans that the country adopted in 2016. The plans aim to generate 42% of Egypt’s energy from renewable sources by 2035.

Denmark is a world-leading country in renewable energy generation and promotion and that’s why the cooperation is expected to accelerate Egypt’s green transformation plans.

Cooperation between the two countries goes back to the late 1960s and is worth more than $500,000 in different sectors including renewable energy, environment, culture and water and sanitation among others.
