The Arab Social Media Influencers Award (ASMIA) this year goes to Nafham for being the best educational social media platform in the Arab World. Nafham is a free online K-12 platform specifically for educational purposes, providing videos and resources to help students across the region understand lessons linked to mandated public curricula.

ASMIA is the first award ceremony initiated in the Arab World that highlights the compelling social media-driven initiatives by Arabs. The award honors innovations by both individuals and institutions alike that have made a positive impact on the development and prosperity of their communities, and have contributed to the progress and development of the people.

Nafham won the award on the basis that it has boosted social and academic engagement amongst students, and encouraged communications and creative thinking across social media channels. The initiative has not only contributed to the development of individuals within Arab communities, but has also created a positive awareness of the importance and accessibility of education to all individuals within the community.

Nafham provides 5 to 20 minute videos that are recorded by teachers as well as crowd-sourced videos that are revised by professionals across all academic disciplines. The videos are used to explain various educational concepts using multiple different approaches, explaining lessons in details and making them easier for students to understand. Videos are organized by grades, subjects (except religion), terms, and academic schedule, making the navigation experience easy for students to find the lessons they want in a matter of seconds. To date, Nafham’s website holds 23,000 educational videos, and has received more than 25 million views, with over 100,000 video lesson views daily and more than 500,000 students currently use Nafham’s videos.

The ASMIA is not the first award of excellence given to Nafham for its outstanding contribution to the educational scene in the Arab world. In 2014, Nafham was also awarded 1st place in the Samsung Egypt Entelaq award for it’s educational value to the community, and also the H.H. Sheikh Salem Al-Ali Al Sabah Informatics award for being the best Arabic website. In 2013, Nafham also received the MC Egypt Best Social Impact Award.
