Samsung Electronics Egypt, a market leader and award-winning innovator in consumer electronics, signed a protocol as part of its corporate social responsibility initiatives in cooperation with Ain Shams University Hospital to provide the hospital's dedicated ultrasound fetal unit with the latest technologies available in the field. The protocol, which was signed by Seung-Ho Yun, Managing Director of Samsung Electronics Egypt and Dr. Ahmed Ramy, OBGYN professor and Head of the Ain Shams University Hospital Ultrasound Fetal Care Unit, was witnessed by Dr. Ahmed Emad El Din Rady, Professor of Ortho Surgery and the Dean of the faculty of medicine, Ain shams University.
With this protocol, Samsung Electronics Egypt will provide the latest sonography machine units to the Ain Shams University Hospital Ultrasound Fetal Care Unit, which will be used to improve medical practitioners’ learning and training experiences in ultrasonography procedures in order to further enhance their diagnostic skills.
Birth rates in Egypt rank among the highest in the region with health expenditures totaling approximately 4.8% of GDP (est.2013). As part of its on-going commitment to the Egyptian community, Samsung hopes to help significantly reduce the number of deaths from pregnancy and childbirth through the advanced medical equipment they will provide to the Ultrasound Fetal Care unit, including the Samsung WS80A Machine, Samsung HM70A and the Samsung UGEO H60. These machines' use of high-frequency sound waves creates images of internal organs including those of fetuses, which enables accurate examination of internal body parts and the early diagnosis of potential problems.

Commenting on the initiative, Seung-Ho Yun, Managing Director of Samsung Electronics Egypt, said, "We are proud to have partnered with Ain Shams University Hospital to offer doctors-in-training at the Ultrasound Fetal Care Unit the chance to use the most advanced medical equipment available in the world. Such a unique and specialized unit deserves the latest technology to provide the best care to expecting mothers throughout the country." He continued, “Samsung's initiative will provide doctors with specialized training on using ultra-sound devices to enhance their diagnostic skills, with the ultimate objective of contributing to the development of the healthcare sector and the overall medical practice in the country.”

Building on the success of previous campaigns, Samsung continues to support the Egyptian community through its cutting-edge technology. Using Samsung’s state-of-the-art sonography machines, this dedicated fetal care unit will focus on the education, training and research of medical practitioners at Ain Shams University Hospital, which is one of the largest educational medical institutions in Africa and the Middle East receiving numerous medical cases. In addition, doctors from different universities across the country will also have the chance to attend this training and improve their skills.
